Grant Monies Available to Organizations Carrying Out CoBI's Mission
The Council on Brain Injury is pleased to announce the availability of grant monies for organizations carrying out our mission in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. Grant requests for up to $5000 will be accepted starting October 1, 2011, with awards being made after the close of grant acceptance on January 31, 2012.
CoBI is committed to increasing the awareness of brain injury, improving the lives of those affected by brain injury, and preventing brain injury. Projects that have been funded to date include:
- Scholarships through brain injury organizations for families and individuals with brain injuries to attend educational conferences;
- Scholarships through approved fitness centers for personal training and fitness memberships for individuals with brain injury;
- “Camperships” for children with brain injury to attend summer camp;
- Payment for IRB fees for important research on brain injury prognosis;
- Sponsorship of safety events including bike rides, helmet giveaways, and prevention talks to children;
- Sponsorship of an Art Center’s classes for individuals with brain injuries and their caregivers;
- Financial support to a filmmaker whose project is about the lives of three soldiers whose lives were forever changed by brain injury.
Public and private organizations, community-based programs and agencies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware are eligible. Applicants may include schools and universities, sports organizations, camps, recreational organizations and centers, rehabilitation providers, support groups. Applications for 2012 Grants will be accepted between October 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012. Awards will be announced on April 1, 2012.
